Creativity beats marketing muscle

The Digital Studio Industry Leadership Awards were launched in 2005 to acknowledge the efforts of regional players who had helped grow the Middle East broadcast and production scene at a time when it was almost non existent. In the beginning, it was important to reward the frontrunners, who had invested their time, efforts and capital in this region, when not many saw any potential in it.

Now that we have acknowledged them, it is time for us to move on and laud others - perhaps newcomers, smaller players and not so well established companies who are also making their mark with their creaitivity, ingenuity or smart enterprise.

They may never measure up to the big corporates and may never do as many projects as the former but if they have done something innovative in their area of expertise, those are the ones Digital Studio would like to pick. The idea is not to only reward the biggest players because then, in a small region such as ours, we'd have to pick the same folks again and again.

Rather, we hope to find other individuals and companies out there who do work that's worthy of the respect of the entire broadcast community.

If you have run into any of these players, we urge you to send us an e-mail about them so that we might welcome them into the fold. We hope you will support our efforts to acknowledge those who are contributing to the growth of the broadcast industry in this region.
