Agreement: world class training facilities to develop in Dubai.

HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and chairman of Emirates Group, recently signed an agreement with Airports Council International (ACI) for establishing world-class facilities in Dubai for training in safety, security and airport management.

The result of a proposal made by Mohammed Ahli, vice president of ACI's Asia Pacific Region, the agreement was signed last month during the governing board meeting of the ACI in Dubai.

According to the plan, the training courses will be accredited to ACI and will be recognised by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation).

"Joint training at the airport level is a very effective way for our respective organisations to provide compliance with ICAO standards and recommended practices. This global consistency underpins a safe, secure and sustainable aviation industry," said Dr Taieb Cherif, secretary general of ICAO.

The ACI board meeting discussed many issues affecting international airports, and among these security,
safety and training took the centre stage. This was preceded by the ACI Airports Business and Trinity Forum 2007, a commercial revenues conference for international airports, which attracted over 350 delegates from various countries around the world.
