Lenovo takes the leap with Office 2007

by Andrew White on Thursday, 26 April 2007
Lenovo is the world's third-largest computer maker.

Lenovo, the world's third largest computer maker, has announced that it will now ship its personal computers with the pre-installed image of Microsoft Office Professional 2007. This pre-installed image on Lenovo's select models will allow users to try the software for 60 days and then convert to the full product licence by simply buying the activation key from a reseller.

"This Microsoft Office Ready programme is a simple and convenient way for users which allows them to convert the trial version of the Microsoft Office Professional 2007 into a complete licence seamlessly. Lenovo once again scores a first with the announcement of this new capability for its customers in the region," said Imtiaz Ghani, managing director for Lenovo Middle East, Egypt & Pakistan.

Microsoft research has shown that some 40% of small business PCs that are sold without Microsoft Office pre-installed will have the software installed within 60 days. Additionally, Microsoft's research shows that customers who bought Microsoft Office pre-installed were more satisfied with their PC purchase decision.

"The strong partnership with our multinational partners such as Lenovo will enable more customers to benefit from the Office Ready programme. Lenovo has been a pioneer in this market to provide their PCs pre-installed with Microsoft Office Ready image."
