Baltrans continues focus on ME
by Alex Hawkes on Wednesday, 09 May 2007
Baltrans Logistics has confirmed its interest in the European, Middle East and African markets through opening a new office at the CDG Airport in Paris.
The Asian company believes the office is an important step in expanding its presence in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Focusing on international and domestic forwarding, custom clearance and warehousing, the new office is expected to generate most of its business from importers in the Far East and the US, alongside customers served by Baltrans' EMEA network.
"With our own network in France, we will be able to offer enhanced services to international customers as well as capture the enormous potential in France, which is one of the key industrial countries in Europe. We will continue to open more offices in France in the coming months," said Michel Loots, regional managing director of EMEA region, Baltrans.
The company has also revealed it experienced a 19% revenue increase during the six month period ending 31 January 2007. This was largely due to gross profit increasing 40% in the EMEA region, with the gross margin improving from 15.5% to 18.2%.
"We will continue to build a unified global network. Our business reach is extending with the addition of new subsidiaries outside Asia, which will bring synergies that will benefit our entire network of offices. We will also keep investing in improving our processes and systems to ensure we can boost our long-term competitiveness and productivity," added Anthony Lau, executive chairman for Baltrans.
