Sonicwall’s Marvin Blough and Shahnawaz Sheikh.

Network security vendor Sonicwall has hailed the role of its channel after revealing that it has shipped more than one million units of its appliance-based solutions globally.

Shahnawaz Sheikh, regional sales manager at Sonicwall MEA, said that passing the milestone figure is reflective of the vendor's indirect strategy.

"Our company strategy is predicated on the success of our channel partners, without whom we would not be celebrating this achievement," he said.

"Sonicwall recognised early on that, to serve the unmet security needs of small and mid-tier businesses, a dedicated channel strategy was required. This dedication to our channel partners remains a core company strategy today, affecting every area of our operation. Reaching an installed base of one million units demonstrates the vitality of our strategy, for the channel and end-users, of creating purpose-built products that are simple to install, use and manage," he added.

Emtech, a gold medallion partner of Sonicwall endorsed its success, claiming the vendor supported it by helping solve complex IT problems with easily managed, effective security and dynamic network services.

Vijayan Raman, managing director at Emirates-based Emtech, added: "Our customers are not IT specialists so they look to us for guidance on their network needs, and we recommend Sonicwall as their security solution. To date, Emtech has installed over 400 Sonicwall units for customers throughout the UAE.

Over the past three years, Sonicwall has diversified its solutions beyond its firewall VPN family, adding SSL-VPN remote access, data back-up and recovery and e-mail security to its product portfolio. The US-based company sells through an extensive network of more than 10,000 partners across the world.
