Drake and Scull scores MEP deal in Abu Dhabi

Drake and Scull has won a US $48 million (AED178 million) contract to provide mechanical, electrical and plumping works for the Park Rotana mixed-used development, which will form part of Abu Dhabi's Khalifa Park tourism project.

The project is being developed by Al Mada Tourism Investment Company, a joint venture promoted by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and Rotana Hotels, Suites & Resorts.

The complex will include a 250-room hotel, 300 hotel apartments, office space and residential apartments.

Drake & Scull has been contracted to provide MEP works over an area of 180,000m2, which includes apartment buildings, a hotel and an office building.

"As the region's premier MEP contractor, Drake and Scull International will harness cutting edge technology, industry expertise and skilled personnel to provide the highest standards of quality, value, comfort and convenience to investors in the development," said Ahmad Al Naser, area general manager, Drake and Scull International.

The scope of MEP works in Drake and Scull's 21-month long contract extends to supply, installation, testing and commissioning of systems for air conditioning, ventilation, plumbing and drainage, building management, fire fighting, power and lighting, telephone and data communications, fire alarm, video intercom, central emergency lighting, CCTV and access control security systems.
