The UAE's Al Bayan newspaper today reveals that the deal to build a metro track from Dubai International Airport to Jebel Ali Airport is set to cost AED10 billion ($2.72 billion).
The Dubai Roads and Transportation Authority (RTA) has signed an agreement to build the new 49 km (30.45 miles) metro line in a bid to provide a high-speed link between the two airports.
The ‘Purple Line' service is due to launch in December 2012.

In Egypt today, Al Ahram newspaper reports that the country's cabinet has agreed to raise the salaries of state workers by 10% from July 1.
It will also raise pensions for civil and military workers by 10%, with a maximum of 60 Egyptian pounds ($10.54 per month).
The move comes just as Egypt announced yesterday a 50% hike in teachers' salaries starting in July.
