BMMI replaces Microsoft OS with Sun solutions to boost performance

Bahrain Maritime and Mercantile International (BMMI) has opted for Sun Microsystem's Solaris operating system (OS). The new Sun OS replaces the existing business applications previously ran on a Windows OS.

BMMI, a Bahrain-based diversified trading and services group, opted for Sun Fire servers and storage and backup solutions to provide easy access to critical information on a real-time basis, reduce system unavailability, improve the overall management of services, and reduce costs.

"We needed to build an environment that was scalable in nature to enable BMMI to grow its business seamlessly, both within Bahrain and beyond our natural borders," said Mike Kruger, CIO at BMMI.

"Having built our ERP solutions on a typical three tier architecture and single instance environment, the hardware infrastructure would need to be capable of delivering and meeting our requirements," Kruger added.
