Forsa launches $272m property fund

by Tamara Walid on Sunday, 03 June 2007

Forsa, the region's first investment company for women investors, has announced its first wave of investment projects kicking off with a major real estate venture to be launched this month.

It will be the first of a number of projects focused on creating investment opportunities for women.

"After the long and thorough stages of conceptualising the company, and the successful fund-raising campaign, we are now all set for our first major real estate project and other inaugural offerings. We believe that this real estate venture will be the start of greater things in store for women investors in the UAE, giving them a more prominent role in the country's economic growth," said Forsa's CEO Shamsa Ali Rashid.

Rashid has also visited GCC member countries Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain to promote the project. The CEO said she believed the real estate project will generate investments from around the region with a very high return. Her visits were also an opportunity to introduce the company's programme to the rest of the region and encourage other women to become more involved in investment and business activities.

Forsa's inaugural AED1bn ($272m) investment package has been designed to offer 'attractive returns' to women investors. Forsa has tapped into the resources of its investment partners, particularly prominent developer Nakheel, to guarantee that the initial venture is up to international standards.

"Forsa is very fortunate to have access to a host of resources through our industry-leading partners. We are in a convenient position to expand our investment portfolio because of our strategic alliances with various high-profile corporations, which we believe is critical in our mission to help generate new investment opportunities for women. We look forward to strengthening the relationships in order to achieve our common goals," said Shamsa Rashid.

Forsa is part of Dubai World, a leading holding company based in Dubai that has over 50,000 employees and offerings in more than 100 locations worldwide.
