Dubai and Abu Dhabi supermarkets have increased fish prices by up to 69% in three months, Gulf News says today.
UAE Ministry of Economy figures show French retailer Carrefour Dubai raised the price of UAE shaari fish by 68%, from Dh10 per kilo in March to Dh16.90 this week. LuLu Centre increased its price by 46%.
Fishermen had predicted prices would rise, after Cyclone Gonu battered Oman and destroyed fishing boats.
