Cisco answers Amanah's call for IP-based network
by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Friday, 13 October 2006
Amanah Financial Services has deployed Cisco's network infrastructure and internet protocol (IP) call centre portfolio.
The new infrastructure, which was integrated by UAE-based Emirates Computers, consists of Cisco's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), IP telephony, security and IP call centre solutions.
Eissa Ateeq Al Muhairi, Al Ain branch manager at Amanah Financial Services, told IT Weekly that Amanah had faced a lot of problems with its old network infrastructure system.
He said the old system was slow in transferring calls — which was an issue given Amanah's large volume of daily calls — and staff were also slow in coming out to fix problems, which meant that the system would be down for extended periods.
He added that the firm considered upgrading the old system but found this was not possible.
Amanah was very happy with the Cisco system, implementation of which was finished a "couple of months ago," Al Muhairi said."Previously we had a lot of problems with our call centre, now we have no problems with it. Cisco is shifting calls very quickly and without charge. It is also very fast for maintenance," he added.
"In the competitive financial services industry, network performance is critical not only to generate revenues but also to earn our customer's trust," he said in a statement.
"Cisco's network infrastructure portfolio is more robust and flexible than our previous network. It has improved our network performance, enhanced our services and helped us save time and money. Our team is pleased with the implementation and our customers are happy with our enhanced services."
Commenting on the project, Tamer Ryal, account manager for Emirates Computers, a gold partner of Cisco, said, "We are proud that Amanah entrusted us with this prestigious project. We felt a Cisco network infrastructure was ideal for their requirements."
