Alpha Airports win 10 year contract

Alpha Airports Group has won a 10 year contract with Sharjah International Airport.

The contract will provide exclusive flight catering and ancillary services to airlines operating out of the airport which is located in the Arabian Gulf.

“Sharjah International Airport is always committed to develop the airport’s services and facilities to cope with ever increasing challenges in the aviation field,” said Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Thani, chairman of the Department if Civil Aviation for Sharjah.

He added: “We thank H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, member of Supreme Council, Rular of Sharjah for all the support he has given and his directions to make Sharjah International Airport a vital player in the region by its services and facilities and open policy approach.”

The company will also take responsibility for the business and first class airline lounges and will introduce its World News Cafe brand to the newly developed and expanded terminal.

Alpha plans to establish a partnership with Air Arabia, the leading low cost airline based at the airport, in order to explore mutually beneficial development opportunities.

Alph’s investment in this venture is expected to be in the region of US $941,500 (AED3,458,129).

Peter Williams, CEO of Aplha said: “We are very pleased to be the lead airline caterer to have won the contract for this emerging airport.”
