Jungheinrich lift Truck

The Jungheinrich EZS330 is a versatile tractor for towing trailers up to 5000kg. It features an AC drive motor, which results in high top speed and powerful acceleration, with energy saving, extended operating times and low maintenance. The tractor’s ability to couple several trailers together increases the fl exibility of sea freight handling operation. An optional semi-automatic remote also allows users to release trailers without the operator leaving the platform, saving time and costs. The EZS330 can be adjusted to work with any type of trailer.

Hewlett-Packard

Researchers at Hewlett-Packard have developed a wireless data chip measuring only 2mm, which can provide broad access to digital content in the shipping world. The tiny chip can be embedded into almost any object and make available information and content now found mostly on electronic devices or the internet. Using a special reader, users can listen to sounds, music and access other information captured with their photographs. A read/write device incorporated into a PDA, mobile phone, camera, printer or other appliance can read the information.

Pres-on

Glass, windows, doors and mirrors are notoriously difficult to ship without breakage. Although adhesive separator pads are available to combat the problem, some shippers have complained about the products leaving behind a messy residue. Pres-On has attempted to tackle this issue with its Klean-Stick removable pads, which stick to glass, mirrors and metal during the transportation process, but can be cleanly removed. The pads are placed between glass pieces to absorb vibration, maintain position and prevent breakage.

Intermec

Intermec’s re-usable radio frequency identifi cation (RFID) tag is rugged enough to withstand extreme temperatures and hazardous exposures. The design also allows companies to rewrite the tags thousands of times without compromising on the technology’s ability to track materials such as sub-assemblies, work-in-process components, finished goods, material handling equipment and sea freight containers. The tag is compatible and interoperable with RFID readers that support EPC Gen 2 or ISO 18000-6B standards.

Symbol Technologies

A new mobile computer and scanner system, which can be worn on the wrist or the hip, has been developed by Symbol Technologies for extreme environments. The WT4000 device can withstand four-foot drops to concrete, enduring the rigours of everyday use in the most demanding environments, including port terminals and cold storage freezers. The hands-free unit supports voice-only, text-only and combination voice and text applications to meet a variety of port facility needs.

TCM lift trucks

TCM has extended its lift-truck range, by introducing the new FTB16 and FTB18 models. The electric vehicles, which are operated with AC power, feature improved safety, better operation and reduced maintenance, compared to previous models, according to TCM. Access to the operator position has also been improved, with wider steps and a lower floor. Both models include automatic drive monitoring to avoid damage during operation.
