From potato peelers and preparation counters to juicers and multi-function food processors, every piece of preparation equipment helps save time and manpower.Used from when a food product first enters the kitchen, up until it is plated and sent to the customer, there is a wide scope of products available to assist in every stage of production.
But despite the wide range of equipment on offer, food preparation processors are central to the operation of a commercial kitchen. Typically offering sharp blades, strong motors and high speed for processing, additional features for preparation machines include disposer stands, peel strainers, lock-on hopper covers, adjustable legs and centralised controls.
However, the main requirements when using food processors is matching the right food to the recommended blade, which can be replaced when needed, and performing regular maintenance checks such as checking the grit in peelers.
Preparation equipment is not just restricted to peelers though, whether a worktop or a blender, there are plenty of options in the market, including gravity slicers for cutting fine slices of cooked or raw meats, and bowl mixers for heavy jobs like mashing potatoes.
“Meat grinders, pasta machines and hand mixers with powerful motors are popular among professional chefs. Yet these must be accompanied by durability and electronic speed control. It’s important that items like food processors offer flexible units for changing attachments, so there is no delay from kneading dough to preparing soups,” said Johan Datena, marketing officer, Princess.
Although chefs can buy ready-peeled and pre-packed vegetable portions or sliced meats, which unquestionably saves costs and time, having even minimal prepping equipment such as a blender, mixer or peeler, means that last minute jus, blends and sides can be prepared ad hoc and to a customer’s request, which can only be seen as plus for most diners.
