Team building, incentives and corporate meetings are the mainstay of business at the InterContinental Resort Al Ain, according to Bernard Mehawech, assistant director of sales and marketing at the property.
“We have two main markets — couples and families from the UAE who come for weekends and corporate business for the weekdays,” Mehawech told Hotelier Middle East.
“We provide a lot of team building exercises for corporate clients from Dubai, and can offer them activities onsite, such as water-based team building,as well as arranging for activities such as karting, mountain climbing or hiking outside of the resort.”
The resort is currently introducing the new InterContinental Resort brand standards to all collateral. In addition, the hotel is hosting a number of fam trips from Russia,Ukrain and Germany, promoting the resort direct to travel agents in these markets.
“This is our main strategy for promoting the hotel,” remarked Mehawech. “We are the only big resort in Al Ain, with three swimming pools, so we are not just selling rooms,we are selling a vacation.”
