Star Trac launches Instinct line

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Thursday, 31 August 2006

International commercial fitness equipment manufacturer, Star Trac, has launched its Instinct line of commercial strength machines. The 31- piece line consists of 10 single-function and nine dual-function stations, along with 12 benches and racks that can be used in any combination.

The Instinct line is the fifth full line of strength equipment from the manufacturers and joins the newly released HumanSport and the existing Platinum, Classic and Leverage lines, each of which meet a different need in the fitness marketplace.

“As the fifth complete strength line in the family, Star Trac’s transformation from a treadmill-only company to a full-service cardiovascular and strength equipment provider has taken another step,” said Star Trac president, Steve Nero.

“The arrival of the Instinct line to the Star Trac product family represents yet another example of our desire to offer a variety of solutions to our customers — including a simple, space-efficient circuit on the strength floor that is an easy-to-use, nonintimidating choice for any customer,” he added.

The line of machines features adjustable, ratcheting seats and walkthrough designs. The weight stacks are consistently located and the weights are encased in plastic for safety. In addition, full colour illustrated placards give users tips for safe use of the machines.

“During our user research phase, we learned a lot about who was really using the equipment and, more importantly, why some of the members were not using this product,” said Jeff Meeks, product manager, Star Trac.

“Throughout the development process, the goal was to allow any user to quickly and efficiently adjust their seat, select their desired weight and start their workout.”

With this in mind, the Instinct line was designed as an easy-to-operate solution for members in health clubs and fitness centres, as well as for hotel guests exercising in unsupervised facilities.

“The Instinct name and product line communicate Star Trac’s design platform effectively with its approachable, walk-through designs, intuitive adjustments, motivational finishing touches and rewarding overall experience,” said Terry Woods, director of product management at the company.

Star Trac is now taking orders for the new line and will commence shipping to international customers later this summer.
