Jordan’s Royal Film Commission and SAE International have teamed up to launch TheShorts film competition & festival, which will be held in Jordan and the UAE in early 2007.
TheShorts festival is being introduced as a result of a recently signed agreement between the Royal Film Commission, Jordan under the Patronage of Prince Ali Ibn Hussain, SAE Institute and Al Quds College, Jordan’s community college.
This competition is aimed at drawing upon local and regional talent, and is expected to become an annual event in both countries.
TheShorts will help young, amateur & semi-professional talent to showcase their film projects. The festival will be supported by a series of renowned international and domestic sponsors.
Submissions of short films will be open to entrants in the animation, documentary, comedy, drama, thriller, romance, music videos, commercials and mobile phone film categories.
The best submissions will be aired on major TV networks at the end of every month in the three months leading up to the final awards night, which is tentatively scheduled for April 2007. More details are available on the web site, www.theshorts.tv.
