Enterprise software giant lays out aggressive plans for Saudi

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Thursday, 30 November 2006

Enterprise software vendor 3i Infotech is following hot on the heels of rival Sage by announcing the launch of in-country operations in Saudi Arabia.

The company has created a fully-owned subsidiary in the country and will set up offices in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam in a bid to aggressively tap into one of the fastest growing software markets in the Middle East.

Although the company already boasts over 50 clients in the Kingdom through its partner network, the new offices will give 3i the opportunity to promote its banking, insurance, financial and government services solutions as well as its ORION ERP offering. “Saudi Arabia is not only making investments in infrastructure initiatives, but is bringing about significant changes in the regulatory environment for the financial markets,” said Hari Padmanabhan, deputy managing director at 3i Infotech. “By establishing a strong presence in Saudi Arabia, we will provide an array of proven solutions to Saudi customers, thus empowering them to leverage technology for increased productivity and improved profitability.”

The reforms in Saudi Arabia’s BFSI sector are also reflected in current government initiatives such as Jeddah Economic City, which is attracting high levels of foreign direct investment. That in turn “exponentially increases” demand for technology solutions and services, according to Padmanabhan.

3i, which will open the Riyadh office first, plans to quickly build up its local workforce in Saudi by recruiting experienced professionals from the software and services sectors as well as nationals that have just graduated from Saudi universities.

The India-based company has its Middle East headquarters in the UAE and also boasts a number of customers across Africa.
