Network intrusion prevention vendor Top Layer Networks has appointed a regional business development manager and signed a contract with Fusion Distribution as it looks to step up its presence in the Middle East.

The deal with Fusion will see Top Layer's high performance intrusion protection systems, which provide three-dimensional protection (3DP) against malicious content and undesired access, made available to resellers in the Middle East.

"Companies worldwide are realising how Top Layer's network intrusion prevention systems can enable them to better protect their enterprises against today's sophisticated and fast-changing cyber threats," said Peter Rendall, president and CEO at the US-based vendor. "The reseller channel is an integral part of our business model and Fusion enables us to further capitalise on the growing interest in our security solutions in the Middle Eastern markets."

In addition to appointing Fusion, Top Layer has named Husam Adnan Al Saraf as its business development manager for the region. Al Saraf brings 10 years' experience in business development, including five in a product management and sales capacity, to the job and will work closely with Fusion to strengthen the company's brand in the Middle East.

Fusion - which was acquired by German security distributor ComputerLinks earlier this month - says it will distribute Top Layer's products across the GCC, Egypt and the Levant.

"Top Layer Networks is a great move forward for us in the IPS space," declared Lee Reynolds, marketing manager at Fusion. "The Middle East is ready for a quality-driven technology player like Top Layer Networks with its unique 3DP approach and we look forward to this exciting partnership."
