Road repair gives quick response

UK-based manufacturer of cement and bitumen-based products, Instarmac, has launched an emergency road repair system - Ultracrete EPM995.
The surface repair resin is designed to be used when quick and effective temporary carriageway ‘first aid' is required.
According to the company, not only does the material fully comply with the Highways Agency's expectations for rapid strength gain and the carriageway's subsequent surface integrity, but its use will also speed up the reopening of a route following an incident.
Traffic accidents account for 25% of all the delays on UK roads, according to an investigation by the Highways Agency. The report identifies localised carriageway defects and post incident road surface contamination as two of the major reasons for delays in resuming normal traffic flow.
While most events will require attendance by the emergency services to deal with the immediate needs of people involved, the authorities also have to undertake damaged vehicle recovery, a post-incident clear up and road surface safety checks, before traffic-flow can fully resume.
There are a number of reasons why carriageway surface may have been affected following an incident: damage could have been caused by fire, spillages, fretting, depressions and vehicle gouges.
"The product is a natural extension of Ultracrete's high-tech road repair range", said Jane Harris, brand manager, Ultracrete.
"Its strength and excellent immediate performance is bound to make EPM995 an inseparable part of the post-incident emergency repair pack for all contractors."
