Target Engineering has won contracts for works at two of the largest new substations in the UAE. The firm will complete the electrical erection and installation works at a 400/132kV grid station in Fujairah and a new 400kV grid station and 220kV GIS extension at Sweihan.
Three 500MVA transformers will be installed at Sweihan and two at Fujairah in contracts worth a total of around US $3.2 million (AED11.6 million). The main contractor for both projects is Toshiba.
Target has won a number of other contract recently including one valued at $2.26 million for a flare gas recovery project in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi. The Takreer project consists of flare gas recovery for hydro-cracker flare systems. Target's work will include the installation of heat exchangers, compressors, pumps, pipework fabrication, field testing and commissioning; Toyo is main contractor.
In July, Target is due to start work on Nakheel's Jumeirah Islands Heights, a $103 million development comprising six buildings and a substation. Its works here are due to take 16 months.
