New Toys 'R' Us opens in Dubai

The flagship Toys 'R' Us store in New York City's Times Square is the largest toy store in the US.

Giant toy store chain Toys 'R' Us opened on Thursday at Dubai Festival City, becoming the fifth branch of the high profile chain to open in the UAE.

The new 45,000 sq ft store store is expected to become a main attraction for children from across the region.

"Toys 'R' Us at Dubai Festival City offers children of all ages an experience that has never before been available in the region," said Jim McCallum, group director for retail at Al Futtaim, the toy store's local partner.

"The [store's] range of toys, games, equipment, even baby products, is among the best and the largest anywhere - not just this region," added Wayne Cohen, general manager for Toys 'R' Us in the UAE.

According to Al Futtaim, the new store boasts interactive features and entertainment facilities, as well as up-to-date games, learning materials and traditional toys.

"The high tech interactive features that have been introduced into this store will dazzle, entertain and educate visitors of all ages," Cohen added.

Toys 'R' Us is present in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. The company operates 587 stores in the US and nearly 600 stores are operating in 29 other countries, some of them under franchise.

The flagship store in New York City's Times Square is the largest toy store in the United States.
