Who was your first CEO or mentor?

My father.

What three things have they taught you?

He taught me that integrity, honesty and loyalty are the most important things in life, especially at work.

He made me understand that without these three things you cannot expect to earn the kind of respect that you need to succeed in business or any other aspect of your life.

At the end of the day, all you have is your reputation and if you are honest and loyal then it will stay intact throughout all the ups and downs that come with running any business or that occur in life in general.

How have you applied this to how you work today?

If you apply these principles to everything you do then your word has value and people respond to that. Everything I do in my day-to-day work is based on these foundations.

What makes a good CEO?

A good CEO is someone who can be true to himself at all times and someone who is passionate about what he does. After all, if you care about something you'll move mountains to make sure it succeeds. Another key quality that all good CEOs need is vision; the ability to almost predict the future and see around corners. Good planning is essential and it is vital to have a contingency plan in case things go wrong, which CEOs inevitably do need at some stage in most businesses.

What three qualities should every CEO have?

As well as having integrity, honesty and loyalty, which I mentioned before. CEOs need to be able to communicate clearly, delegate and be decisive.

What three things should a CEO never do?

Number one: No CEO should ever forget their principles.

Number two: A CEO should not be unethical in the way he does business.

Number three: Don't forget why you are there and what your goals are, whatever else may be happening around you. Losing focus is one of the worst things a CEO can do for himself and his company.

In a few words what advice would you have for an aspiring CEO?

"The way to gain reputation is to endeavour to be what you desire to appear." From Socrates.

Its my 3rd time to meet someone with these 3 foundations of leadership. as Danny said, these 3 foundations are the pillar for any kind of honest venture, from marriage up to ceo position, if you were a vendor in the market and enjoys applying them one day you will achieve higher level, My Boss (Regional Dir of Hotel chain in Africa) once told me listing them down, exactly as Danny did, when i asked him how he rose to top from rank and file in totally corrupted environment, he said just keep upholding the 3 and one day you will get your chance, I did that exactly and knew how effective they can be , way to go Danny God bless,
