The UAE's second telco operator du has sent its internet customers free versions of McAfee's VirusScan Plus 2007 security software.
These customers previously received their internet services from DIC Telecom/ TCOM before that organisation was rebranded as du a few weeks ago, and tend to be based in the UAE's free zone locations and Emaar developments such as the Springs and Greens communities in Dubai.
The number of customers sent the software was not immediately available.
The McAfee solution supplied is the full OEM version of VirusScan Plus 2007, which protects PCs and laptops from viruses and spyware, and also includes a personal firewall. The subscription for the software, which is worth approximately US$80, is valid for a full year.
