US storage solutions provider Network Appliance has revealed it is planning to open more offices in the Middle East in a bid to boost its regional presence.

In an interview with ITP.net, Martyn Molnar, regional area director Middle East and North Africa at Network Appliance, said the company had a strong growth plan for the region, which was likely to include new office openings and recruitment of additional staff.

"We want to increase the experience [our customers and partners] have with Network Appliance and that mandates we embark on an aggressive expansion plan which includes office presence and includes headcount," he said.

Molnar declined to disclose specific locations for the potential office openings, but said the firm wanted to establish a closer presence with its energy customers.

He stressed, however, that the firm would continue to work through its partners in the region, which include SPI, Tech Access, STME, Fujitsu Siemens and local resellers.

"We are a 100% indirect organisation. Our plan is just to get closer to customers but more importantly partners as well in each of the geographies where we would be establishing a formal Network Appliance presence," he added.

The company, also known as NetApp, already took steps to extend its regional footprint with the opening of an office in Saudi Arabia this February.

In addition, it has since 2002 had an office in Dubai.
