Falcon Aviation Services (FAS) and Alpha Tours have launched a helicopter service in the UAE, providing aerial views of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Gulf News reports.

With an initial investment of $20.4 million, the service will launch with a fleet of four helicopters, including the Augusta A109 Grand and Eurocopter EC130. It will initially provide 10 trips a day.

With limited competition in the sector, company officials say they expect to capture 60% of the market, double the number of trips and increase the fleet to seven aircraft after a year.

A 30 minute tour will cost in the region of Dh3,999. The Dubai service will fly over The World and The Palm, offering views of the Burj Al Arab, coastline and skyscrapers.

Two helicopters will take off from Adnec in Abu Dhabi, and a further two from the Dubai International Marine Sports club, according to FAS general manager Philip Markham.

The service will also target the corporate sector, including construction and property firms conducting aerial inspections.

FAS will supply Alpha Tours with a co-branded fleet of aircraft. Alpha will lead a promotional drive through its network of 6,000 plus travel agencies.
