Printer giant Xerox has launched a new Phaser 3200MFP designed to help businesses increase their efficiency and productivity.

The firm's latest laser, monochrome-multifunction-printer (MFP) packs in print, copy, fax and colour-scanning in one box.

"For about the same price as a standalone printer, the Phaser 3200MFP puts all the tools workers need to be productive within arm's reach," explained Natesh Mani, director of Xerox's MEA business.

The unit has a starting price of US $399.

The MFP offers a maximum print resolution of 1200dpi, which the company claims helps the printer deliver crisp text and fine detail. Xerox also claims the MFP is one of the fastest in its class with a print speed of 24ppm (pages per minute).

Additionally, the firm specifies the print engine as having a maximum duty cycle of 10,000 pages per month and, in terms of its scanning capabilities, the 3200 offers a top resolution of 600 x 600dpi and is equipped with a 300MHz processor and 64Mbytes of buffer memory.

The Phaser 3200MFP is compatible with Windows Vista and has been designed to be environmentally friendly. The MFP is Energy Star compliant, which means it will switch to a lower power mode when not being used, and is part of Xerox's Green World Alliance supply-recycling-program.
