REA wins Reem Island cladding deal

UAE-based Reem Emirates Aluminium (REA) has won a US $81.6 million (AED 300 million) contract to provide customised unitised curtain walling, cladding and sliding doors for 14 towers on Reem Island - Abu Dhabi.

The contract involves the curtain-walling for the 14 towers which are located in different blocks on plot 1 of Reem Island.

REA was awarded the curtain wall packages due to its ability to provide customized solutions and commitment to the program of works.

"REA has been created to fill a niche market by providing one off customized designs for high spec, high end façade projects," said Derek Bruce, general manager of REA.

With the market witnessing increasing demand in architectural finishes and metal works in the UAE, REA is setting up a purpose-built factory and offices on 80,000m2 of land in "It will be capable of producing over 40,000 square metres of curtain wall panels per month," added Bruce.
