Atlas Copco gensets offer compact future on site
by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Saturday, 28 July 2007
The QAS 125-150 generating sets from Atlas Copco feature continuous prime ratings at 50Hz of 125-150kVA. The sets are powered by a Volvo Penta four-stroke six-cylinder diesel engine with direct injection.
In line with the European emission regulations Stage II, the QAS 125-150kVA range features reduced exhaust emissions.
The new sets' configuration is such that the QAS 125-150 deliver the same accurate and stable power regardless of the conditions but are contained within a smaller housing.
Atlas Copco QAS generating sets are renowned for their low noise operation. A sound attenuated and rugged Zincor steel enclosure ensures the units still comply with European sound regulations.
One of Atlas Copco's focus areas was to ensure the reliability of the units to boost the customer's uptime and thereby productivity and revenue.
For the new design, special attention was given to ease of installation and operation, service and safety. Large doors and service plates ensure superior accessibility to all critical service points, which are all located on one side of the generating set. Both sets have a 500-hour service interval.
The compact and safe concept, together with the sturdy design, ensures increased transport efficiency, according to the company.
The units are easy to transport and manoeuvre on the jobsite. With their smaller size they are ideal for urban use where space constraints are a common issue. The fuel tank is now centrally placed so that regardless of how much the fuel tank is filled, the unit is balanced.
With their superior standard configuration and extensive option list, the redesigned QAS 125-150 sets are able to power a wide range of applications in the demanding businesses of construction, contracting and rental.
The new design is characterised by a more extended standard equipment list. The unit has, as standard, an external fuel tank connection and a spillage-free frame with integrated forklift pockets. Standard functions also include a battery switch, a dual-stage heavy-duty air filter, a dual-stage fuel filter with water separation and an oil drain pump.
