VOR anticipates HD
by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer on Monday, 06 August 2007
Anticipating technology, the Volvo Ocean Race (VOR) has introduced high definition television (HDTV) feeds as part of its upgraded broadcast coverage for the 2008-09 event.
This result will mean enhanced picture quality and an opportunity to engage worldwide broadcasters looking to fill their schedules with HDTV material.
The VOR 2005-06 attracted a cumulative global television audience of 1.8 billion.
With the Olympic Games and Formula One recently announcing that HD is part of their broadcast plans, Andrew Ferguson, Head of Technology and New Media for the VOR, is looking to put the VOR on the same standard as major league sports and make the race archive ‘future-proof'.
