DC World to push for global business

Dubai Customs World (DC World), the customs solutions provider signed a MoU with Bureau Veritas, in July to jointly pursue new business opportunities at the global level.
DC World, a subsidiary of Dubai World, has established electronic customs clearance systems and training schemes in Africa and the Middle East, and is aiming for a major global expansion.
France-based Bureau Veritas provides quality assurance services, ranging from conformity assessment to corporate compliance solutions, with a pedigree including customs management.
The MoU, which will remain in force for three years, was signed at the Dubai World Chairman's office at the Emirates Towers, by Hamad Fadhel Al Mazrooei, CEO, DC World, and Andrew Philip Yell, vice president, contracts, Bureau Veritas.
"This MoU is the first step towards a highly creative partnership between two specialised service providers with global stakes. It is in total conformity with the vision set by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for delivering quality in all our services," explained Al Mazrooei, CEO, DC World. "The vast experience and global reach of Bureau Veritas, and the highly advanced and innovative Customs administration systems of DC World together make a highly potent business model," he added.
As a developer of software for customs management and training for customs administrators, DC World is aiming to expand its current business model and position itself at the forefront modern solutions for the service sector. DC World's Mirsal World customs e-clearance software has already been successfully implemented in East Africa's Djibouti customs facilities.
"This MoU marks a significant landmark in our vision of becoming the world's preferred customs solutions provider and we are confident that the partnership with Bureau Veritas will propel us towards that goal. DC World has always prided itself in developing innovative features in its services that differentiate it from the rest of the market," explained Al Mazrooei. Bureau Veritas has had offices in Dubai since 1986, which has 165 of the group's 26,000 employees.
