UK-based bmi has revealed plans to launch a direct daily flight from London Heathrow to Cairo and to up its existing services to Amman and Beirut to daily from October 28.
"The introduction of new competition onto routes has historically invigorated markets and we expect our new competitive service from Heathrow to Cairo to appeal to both leisure and business travellers," said Nigel Turner, CEO, bmi.
The carrier has also announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with EgyptAir to enter into code share and frequent flyer agreements.
The new Cairo-Heathrow service will be operated by an Airbus A320 in a two-class business and economy configuration. Return fares will start from US $612 for economy and $1798 for business class.
