Amr Farghal (pictured) said Hashish was selected for his ability to lead top performing teams.

Fonterra, a New Zealand based dairy producer, has appointed FMCG veteran Khaled Hashish as general manager for the GCC region.

Hashish, who has more than 25 years experience in the FMCG and automotive industries, has previously worked for companies including PepsiCo International and Toyota in the MENA region.

"Our search for a new leader to escalate Fonterra's sustained success has been focused and thorough as each candidate was interviewed by the entire board, and Khaled was our top choice," said Amr Farghal, general manager of Fonterra's Middle East hub.

"Khaled came to our attention because of his strong execution skills, his proven ability to lead top performing teams, and his track record in driving shareholder value. Additionally, we were impressed by his emphasis on developing internal talent, his understanding of the role of culture in a company's success and his personal integrity."

Hashish worked at PepsiCo International for 17 years and was involved in business management, sales and distribution, marketing, franchise management and corporate sales. In his most recent role at Pepsi, director of sales, Hashish was involved in restructuring the management, and making distribution networks more profitable. His key achievements include the creation of a sales and marketing module that grew market share from 63% in 2005, to 72% in 2006.
