Al-Motahadeth, a new social affairs and marketing channel was launched in Riyadh recently.
Saleh Abdulrahman Al-Abdullateef, director of Al-Motahadeth Company for Communication and Information Technology, signed the deal with Arabsat, which will be the official carriage for the channel's programmes.
Al-Abdullateef said the channel aspired to become the voice of the "Saudi Street" and would present a broad programme mix including discussion of religious topics, as well as significant events in Saudi society. The channel will also include education and cultural content.
Announcing the launch of Al Motahadeth, Al-Abdullateef said the new venture was a response to the cultural invasion by foreign channels.
The channel will carry preferential marketing offers for holders of the Al-Motahadeth card.
