Toll boosts business at Dubai Festival City’s retail outlets

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Tuesday, 21 August 2007

Dubai's new Salik road toll system has yielded positive benefits for Dubai Festival City (DFC).

Senior general manager of retail, Tom Miles, anticipates the recent increase in traffic, which resulted from the opening of new roads and implementation of traffic control measures in the city, will not be short-lived.

"[Last month] we witnessed a positive increase in traffic on the new Business Bay Crossing, consequently followed by a significant increase in footfall at Festival Waterfront Centre," said Miles.

"Also, the new toll system is facilitating easy flow on Garhoud Bridge to Dubai Festival City."

Home to international fashion boutiques and famous brands such as Anne Klein, Sephora, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Paul Frank, as well as a 12-screen Grand Cinema complex, Bowling City and food court, Miles believes DFC's 195,000m² retail resort, which will soon also be home to 550 shops and 90 restaurants and cafés, "will shortly become a ‘must visit' destination" as a result of the favourable traffic conditions.

"Business Bay Crossing, with its three dedicated ramps to Dubai Festival City, is indeed a great benefit for our retail resort; the bridge is providing smooth access to visitors coming from the Bur Dubai or Jumeirah neighbourhoods," he explained.
