The College of Communications, the media arm of the University of Sharjah has recently expanded its studio facility and invested in additional Panasonic cameras and editing solutions. The planning, design, supply and integration for the US $150,000 project was undertaken by Al Futtaim Panatech.
"Our objective behind them has been to train our media students on the latest technology and provide them with the skills necessary for them to work well in TV or radio production," stated Dr. Mamdouh Elmeshmeshy, head of the Department of Radio and TV at the College of Communications, which is one of the 12 colleges operating under the umbrella of the University of Sharjah.
As part of the upgrade, the college has primarily invested in two DVC Pro studio-based Panasonic cameras with multi-core facility as well as five HVX 200 cameras, a Libec Jib arm, 3D cool lights, two Avid Liquid solutions and Telos telephone hybrid systems.
"The HVX 200 will be used for outdoor shoots. We train our students on everything in production including news, talk shorts, sports broadcast and so on. Our students also currently do a weekly programme on Sharjah TV called University Studio. Our investment will enable our students to train on new equipment and also help them produce better quality equipment," adds Dr. Elmeshmeshy.
