Guests will be able to get up close and personal with local wildlife.

IFA Hotels and Resorts (IFA HR) will enter the wildlife hospitality market in South Africa, after taking a 50% stake in a joint venture to acquire the Legend Golf and Safari Resort.

The Legend development will cost $411 million, and will form part of the Big Five Entabeni Safari Conservancy in South Africa's Limpopo province.

IFA HR chairman and managing director Talal Jassim Al-Bahar said the resort would contribute to the company's strategy "to reach into the most beautiful corners of the globe".

"In addition to being very pleased about our announcement regarding our new partners, we're also very excited about our first Big Five game reserve investment in Southern Africa," he said.

"This acquisition is a continuation of our intention to invest in South Africa and Africa, a focus area for our set global expansion policy. Legend Golf and Safari is one of a kind, and it will be a great destination for South African and international investors and tourists."

The resort is located in the shadows of Hanglip mountain, where lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards and black rhinoceros roam on the savannah grasslands.

Facilities at the resort include a welcome centre and club house, five-star hotel and conference facilities for up to 2500 guests.
