Aramex picks customs processing software

Aramex has selected Impatex to provide customs processing software for its freight and express operations throughout the UK, after a three-way competitive pitch.
The Impatex Customs Manager suite of software replaces two other systems, and will be used throughout the UK express and freight operations of Aramex, which have recently expanded following the completion of mergers with Priority Express and TwoWay Vanguard.
Aramex's aims in reviewing its customs processing systems were to improve staff productivity, standardise and centralise systems to improve internal support, reduce hardware, communications and messaging costs, and improve customer service.
"Impatex software has already been in use in our Manchester office for some time, and we have received good feedback from users," explained Tamer Al Amad, Aramex's regional IT manager in Europe.
"Impatex has accreditation from both CCS-UK and CNS, and can offer a proven solution for both airfreight on CCS-UK and express on CNS, which is not available with any other single supplier. Their very large customer base including integrators gave them considerable credibility, and we were impressed by the size and quality of their support operation," he added.
Aramex expects to increase productivity through labour-saving features such as embedded tariff look-ups for high value goods, currently obtained from external sources. Resultant speeding-up of processing, plus faster direct connections to the customs computer, will mean customers should also benefit from a reduction in processing time.
