In the Kuwaiti Arabic press today, daily newspaper Al Watan today reveals that the country's acting communications minister Abdulwahid al-Awadhi has met with Boeing officials and is expected to meet Airbus officials on Wednesday.
The meetings are set to discuss replacing ageing aircraft of Kuwait Airways' fleet, the daily reported.
The move comes as Kuwait Airways yesterday scrapped a $3 billion deal to buy 19 planes from Aviation Lease and Finance Company (Alafco) after the government refused to approve the loss-making state carrier's plan.
Kuwait Airways had said it would buy 12 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and seven single-aisle Airbus A320 aircraft under an initial agreement signed in June.
