The ‘Lost Paradise of Dilmun,’ the Middle East’s biggest water park, opens to the public today.

Part of Bahrain’s $1.3 billion Al Areen development, it features 14 slides and pools, set in 77,000 square metres of desert oasis. Designed by Whitewater West, the park is operated by the Malaysian theme park design, building and management firm Sim Leisure.

Named after the ancient Dilmun civilisation, of which Bahrain was the centre, it offers a 325 metre Paradise River and Family Raft Ride, and the largest wave pool in the Middle East.

Fun For ALL
Posted by T Crowe Semler, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday 4 September 2007 at 05:00 UAE time

What a wonderful venture...Fun for everyone. I hope Saudi Arabia will explore the potential in such recreational facilities...The citizens of Saudi are lacking entertainment, parks, libraries, and sports activities. A waterpark for all... not gender segregated or FAMILY ONLY. The single / divorced men in the Kingdom have little to do except play "Speed Racer" on the roads and seek "bluetooth" messages...this is not healthy.
