The ‘Lost Paradise of Dilmun,’ the Middle East’s biggest water park, opens to the public today.
Part of Bahrain’s $1.3 billion Al Areen development, it features 14 slides and pools, set in 77,000 square metres of desert oasis. Designed by Whitewater West, the park is operated by the Malaysian theme park design, building and management firm Sim Leisure.
Named after the ancient Dilmun civilisation, of which Bahrain was the centre, it offers a 325 metre Paradise River and Family Raft Ride, and the largest wave pool in the Middle East.
Other components of the Al Areen development include the $300 million Sarab Al Areen, a retail, office and living space development.
