Khalil appointed new Logitech boss

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Saturday, 08 September 2007

GITEX Business Solutions Times can exclusively report that PC peripherals leader Logitech has appointed ex-Toshiba boss Ahmed Khalil as its new regional manager for the Middle East.

Khalil was previously the general manager of Al-Futtaim Technologies' international operation but is arguably better known in the Middle East IT channel as the man who, prior to that, was responsible for ramping up Toshiba's notebook sales in the region.

"With his impeccable industry and management experience, Ahmed Khalil is the perfect appointment for us," comments Katharina Tarmann-Droescher, the director of the Eastern Europe and Middle East region at Logitech. "We're delighted he is able to represent the company at this important time and look forward to seeing the business develop under his leadership," she adds.

Khalil comments, "I am really looking forward to the challenge of representing Logitech in the region and capitalising on the exciting opportunities that lie before us. Logitech launches over 100 new products every year. GITEX Technology Week will mark the launch of some of the most innovative of these and will see the beginning of a new Middle East team set for success with our partners." Khalil joins three Logitech employees currently based in Dubai.

This team and Khalil, all present here at the show on the stand of key local partner ITE Distribution (in hall 3), are this week unveiling a raft of new products, the highlights of which include the Cordless Desktop Wave, the Nintendo Wii-style MX Air mouse, the VX Nano notebook mouse and the high-end QuickCam Pro 9000 webcam.
