Painting WiMAX Red

Wireless broadband access solutions provider, Redline Communications, is launching a range of WiMAX solutions for telecom carriers and end users at GITEX Technology Week.

"We are unveiling the flagship RedMAX 4C solution, which is our 802.16e mobile WiMAX product, at the show this year. The product is technically very advanced and provides operators capabilities not yet seen in the industry. The 4C is definitely the big news at the show for us," says Kevin Suitor, VP for marketing and business development at Redline.

The RedMAX 4c is built on the compact microTCA architecture, which is capable of delivering up to ten watts of power. This means that service providers will be able to provide coverage over a wider territory than was possible with Redline's second generation of products. Consequently, these third and fourth generation products, will lower operator costs in offering services to end users, claims Suitor.

Redline expects the mobile WiMAX product to be considered by most regional carriers who have already bought its fixed WiMAX solution, including ITC in Saudi Arabia, Saudi Telecom, IraqTel and MTN Group amongst others.

"Along with this we are announcing a family of enterprise and personal modems as well as PC cards for mobile WiMAX. The modems are built with a small form factor and the PC cards fit any standard laptop. These are terminal devices that would attach to the base station technology to provide data connectivity.

"The result is a solution that will give end users the same kind of flexibility to access the intenet anytime, anywhere as they do for voice with mobile phones now. It is a great first step to true broadband internet access and a personal broadband experience," explains Suitor.

The company is also this week launching the RedMAX AN100 macro base station.

"Redline has been very successful in the Middle East and Gulf region, which has proved to be one of our strongest markets. We continually use this show as an anchor event for us to bring new products and technologies to the region," concludes Suitor.
