Real estate turns Orange

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Saturday, 08 September 2007
Reina: Orange helps operators offer a diverse portfolio of telecomms services.

Orange Business Services, the services division of France Telecom, is focusing on Solutions for Operators at GULFCOMMS 2007.

Across the Middle East, Orange Business Services is helping incumbent telecomms operators and new service providers roll out new services to their clients.

One of the sectors it is keen to highlight is real estate, where developers are increasingly integrating high end telecomms capabilities into the fabric of their developments.

"Established telecoms operators and service providers are now operating in a new and increasingly competitive regional environment," says Lionel Reina, Vice President, Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa, Orange Business Services.

"New competition includes real estate developers, who are increasingly willing and able to become local, campus and regional operators, as broadband development grows rapidly in the MENA region, offering attractive business opportunities."

Solutions for Operators helps operators develop fixed and mobile services, based on IP technology. For existing providers, this helps minimise the amount of infrastructure overhaul required.

For new entrants into telecomms, such as real estate developers, Solutions for Operators can help with the delivery of services such as broadband, enterprise IP and WiFi.

An example of the service in action is Solidere in Beirut, where Orange has designed a project to deliver an IP-based Metropolitan Area Network.
