A batch of 58 Hawksbill turtles has hatched safely on Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Island.
The turtles have been nurtured under a programme implemented by Abu Dhabi's Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC) and undertaken by the Emirates Heritage Club (EHC), in order to monitor the habits of the wildlife on the island.
"Our aim is to ensure that development does not disturb the natural habitat or wildlife of the island," said Nasser Al Shaiba, environment affairs director, TDIC.
Study results will help shape the island's planning.
