Drake and Scull International is to install switchgear panels for Gulf Dynamic Switchgear's (GDS) US$1.93 million (AED 7.1 million) recent contract win for two projects.
GDS will design and supply low voltage switchgear panels for Zabeel Investments' Palm Jumeirah projects, The Anantara and Tiara Residence.
"The project will be completed in phases over a six month period, expected to start in September," said PA Srinivasan, finance and administration manager, GDS.
Drake and Scull is to install the panels. GDS will supervise the installation, testing and commissioning of the low voltage switchgear for the projects.
"The panels are approved by independent authority, Low Voltage Agreement Group (Lovag). The switchgears are 2,500A and are tested in the factory and on site. There will be seven main switchgears for the hotel and 15 for the residential building," added Srinivasan.
Due to be completed by December 2008, the Tiara project consists of a 15-storey residential building. The Anantara includes a 244-room hotel.
