GOODRAM launches operations at GITEX

The GOODRAM Middle East consumer electronics brand has been officially launched at GITEX Technology Week by Polish ambassador to the UAE Roman Chalaczkiewicz.
The new company is a joint venture between Polish memory storage manufacturer Wilk Electronik and Dubai-based IT professionals Jonathan Gadalla and Nizar Nairoukh. Wilk Electronik is a major name in the Eastern European IT storage market, according to company CEO Wieslaw Wilk.
"With more than 30% market share in our home territory, this region provides us with a new and exciting challenge," he says.
GOODRAM is showcasing its DDR II, SD and USB memory ranges, in addition to a host of quirkier products aimed at piquing consumer attention.
The company is showcasing a new range of scented USB pendrives that are available in lime, strawberry and orange fragrances. "As well as being fully functional and looking good, they smell good too!" says product manager Lukasz Gruszka.
GOODRAM is also showing its full range of SD and microSD cards at GITEX Technology Week, including a 3-in-1 memory kit featuring microSD and USB memory cards.
The microSD cards are supplied with an adapter for use with a USB drive. While Gruszka confirms microSD's ongoing commercial popularity, he predicts that Solid State Drives (SSD) will deliver on their promise in the coming years.
"SSDs use 10% of the power of regular hard drives and are more robust as they have no moving parts. This makes them absolutely ideal for use with iportable devices," he explains.
Gadalla says GITEX provides an ideal launch pad for the company in the Middle East.
"GITEX presents a great opportunity for us to meet with potential customers who visit the show from across the Middle East," he says.
