The Abdali Boulevard Company has handed Saudi Oger Construction a $300 million construction contract for its landmark development in the Jordanian capital Amman.
The project is part of the $1.5 billion Abdali project, a regeneration of 3.5 million square feet in the heart of the city set for completion by February 2010.
The Boulevard will consist of a 370m pedestrian strip flanked by 12 buildings averaging nine floors each. It will host over 130 retail outlets, 400 five-star serviced apartments, state-of-the-art office space and rooftop restaurants, fitness clubs, terraces and pools.
Jamal Itani, CEO of Abdali Boulevard Company said “What we are witnessing today is the rise of a new era in Amman, one that will breathe life and soul into the downtown scene with newfound culture, high-end retail and refined hospitality; acting as a vibrant center in the heart of the capital.”
The Abdali project is being put together by Abdali Investment and Development, a partnership between Mawared, a government owned investmetn corporation, and Oger Jordan, a Saudi Oger subsidiary.
The project incorporates six other separate sectors including a graduate campus for the American University of Jordan, which will occupy a sizeable chunk of the development, a Central Market Place mostly dedicated to retail activities and ten towers, with a variety of uses, including the landmark Abdali Business Tower.
