Winsoft intends to enter the Indian market, encouraged by recent crackdowns on piracy in the country.
CEO Pierre Blangero says a new version of its database software, FileMaker, which supports Indian scripts is currently under development.
"We have been in the Middle East for more than 20 years and now we will enter India, as the market is potentially huge. It is developing quite well and GITEX Technology Week provides the opportunity to meet with resellers from that country," he says.
"Software piracy has previously been an obstacle in India, yet the implementation of copyright laws and Microsoft's efforts have completely revamped the industry and its companies need these newer, modern tools," explains Blangero.
The trade show has emerged as a key site for networking opportunities, and the new show format is predicted to prove successful in other markets with strong demand for Indian language publications, including Dubai.
Blangero also reveals the company, which currently deals with emerging markets in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia regions, plans to open a base in the region by the end of this year, with Dubai strongly tipped as the location.
"We will establish one permanent resource in the Middle East, and are considering Dubai," he concludes.
