Increased demand for combination antennas by emergency services is driving UK-based Panorama Antennas' product mix.

Panorama Antennas export sales manager John Dudley said the company was already used heavily by emergency services for Tetra frequencies, with changing demands for information creating demand for different combinations of antennas.

"We have a range of combination antennas which covers Tetra and other frequencies, such as GPS," he explained.

"They would be used on police cars to establish their position, as well as allowing them to use the Tetra for their communication systems."

Panorama Antennas spokesman Ken Pattison added that while Tetra remained the main communication tool, emergency services were also utilising 2.4GHz LAN to download information at wireless hotspots, and 3G.

"Those are really the sectors that we see developing," he said.

The company will focus on markets in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq and Oman. It is also using GULFCOMMS to demonstrate a different product aimed at the DIY consumer market.

"We have a broadband repeater, for people with a bad GSM or 3G signal in their home or office, which will boost their signal," Dudley added.

"It comprises an external antenna, an internal amplifier and a power supply in a DIY kit. There is definitely a market in the UAE for that.
